Situation :
Se rendre au village de Valle d’Alesani puis plus loin à son hameau de Pie d’Alésani par la D71 (prise au niveau du village de Cervioni). A la sortie du hameau sur la droite, le départ du sentier est situé en haut d’une grande montée bétonnée où des maisons et garages sont présents.
Parking : Bord de route – petite esplanade.

Dans le Parc naturel régional de Corse cet itinéraire propose de découvrir la face Est de la Castagniccia. Une région au passé prestigieux parsemée de plus cent hameaux figés au 19ème siècle, aux chapelles romanes et églises baroques à l’ombre des châtaigniers centenaires. Un voyage dans le temps.

Description de l’itinéraire
Le sentier est bien indiqué par des panneaux en bois à la sortie du hameau.
Il est très bien délimité car fréquenté du fait qu’il fasse partie du Mare e Mare Nord dont le départ se fait à Moriani.
Ce sentier qui ne présente pas de difficultés particulières se fait au milieu d’une châtaigneraie pour sa partie basse puis au milieu du maquis pour la partie haute.
Après avoir marcher environ 1 heure, on accède aisément à la Chapelle de San Alésiu.
Pour les passionné d’histoire et de religion, Saint Alexis fit voeux de chasteté et de pauvreté en renonçant au mariage et en distribuant tous ses bien aux pauvres. La légende indique qu'il vécut sans se faire connaître, à son retour de pèlerinage en terre sainte, sous l'escalier de la maison de ses parents. Saint Alexis est célébré le 17 juillet. Autrefois, dans la piève d'Alésani, un imposant pèlerinage avait lieu tout en haut de la montagne, dans la petite chapelle qui existe encore aujourd'hui. Certes, le pèlerinage y est moins important, mais on célèbre encore chaque année la mémoire de ce Saint qui fut sans doute le grand protecteur de cette piève en Castagniccia.
De cette chapelle, la vue sur toute la vallée d’Alésani et la plaine orientale Corse est magnifique.

From the chapel the views of the entire Alésani valley and the plains of eastern Corsica are magnificent.
