Situation : village de Veru (Vero) à 20 km à l’est d’Ajaccio, RN 193 en direction de Bastia. Parking : mairie de Veru. Balisage : jaune complété par des totems en bois. Ce chemin destiné à la promenade familiale, permettra de découvrir un village à l’architecture traditionnelle préservée, et de touchants témoignages de la vie rurale d’autrefois. Départ depuis la mairie (panneau d’information avec plan de l’itinéraire). Traverser le petit hameau d’Ursunaghju (d’où serait originaire l’une des plus vieille famille de Vero, les Orsoni), puis se diriger vers la fontaine de Vazzalina. Depuis Vazzalina, emprunter le sentier de droite (remarquer les marches taillées dans le granit) en direction de la ghjarghala di u lavandaghju puis franchir le ruisseau. De ce point, le sentier s’élève légèrement, serpente sous les pins maritimes (points de vue à l’est sur le golfe d’Ajaccio et à l’ouest sur le massif du Rinosu) et débouche sur le Casteddu (massif de roche rouge). Bien que le parcours l’évite, il est possible de se rendre au pied du Casteddu par un petit sentier à gauche au niveau du totem en bois. L’itinéraire principal poursuit en suite sur une portion bordée de murs et traverse un talweg. On atteint alors le point le plus haut de la boucle. Le sentier redescend ensuite vers le village, passe devant une maison en pierre (panorama sur la vallée de la Gravona et le golfe d’Ajaccio) et rejoint un chemin communal goudronné. Après environ 200 m sur celui-ci, avant de bifurquer à droite par un escalier assez raide, on remarquera au dessus de la route, quelques sculptures sur la façade d’une maison du XIXe s. dont la construction n’a jamais été terminée. Traverser enfin le hameau de Muchjeddi (four à pain au bord du sentier), puis rejoindre le point de départ, place de la mairie. En fin de balade ne pas hésiter à déambuler dans les petites ruelles du village à la découverte de son architecture caractéristique du sud de l’île.

This path, which is geared to family walking, provides an opportunity to explore a village which has retained its traditional architecture, as well as to discover moving accounts of rural life in days gone by.
Departure from the town hall (information board with a map of the route). Pass through the small hamlet of Ursunaghju (the home village of the Orsoni family, one of the oldest families in Vero), then head towards the fountain in Vazzalina.
From Vazzalina, take the path to the right (note the steps sculpted out of the granite) towards the ghjarghala di u lavandaghju, then cross the stream. From here, the path climbs slightly, then wends its way through the maritime pines (views of the Golfe d?Ajaccio to the east and the Massif du Rinosu to the west) before emerging at the Casteddu (a red rock massif).
Although it is not part of the walk itinerary, it is possible to hike to the foot of the Casteddu via a narrow path to the left by the wooden marker post. The main path then continues along a section bordered by walls before crossing a talweg. You then reach the highest point on the walk. The path then heads back down to the village, passing in front of a stone house (views of the Gravona valley and the Golfe d?Ajaccio), before rejoining a tarmac lane.
After walking along this lane for approximately 200m, and before forking off to the right on a relatively steep flight of steps, note above the road several sculptures on the façade of a 19C house, the construction of which was never completed. Walk through the hamlet of Muchjeddi (note the bread oven to the side of the path), then return to the starting point of the walk in the square by the mairie. Once you?ve completed the walk, it is well worth strolling through the narrow streets of the village to admire the typical architecture which is so characteristic of the south of the island."
