Situation :
Depuis Silvareccio, à la sortie du village si l’on vient de la Casinca, s’arrêter au niveau d’un pont sur le ruisseau d’acqua freddula. Se garer quelques mètres plus loin, direction le village de Piana.

Dans le Parc naturel régional de Corse cet itinéraire propose de découvrir la partie nord de la Castagniccia. Une région au passé prestigieux parsemée de plus cent hameaux figés au 19ème siècle, aux chapelles romanes et églises baroques à l’ombre des châtaigniers centenaires. Un voyage dans le temps.
Le sentier remonte en rive gauche du ruisseau d’acqua freddula. Il pénètre dans une châtaigneraie, puis franchit deux clôtures.
Un balisage fait de points rouges et blancs ainsi que de traits jaunes, indique le cheminement à suivre au milieu des châtaigniers et des aulnes.
Le sentier remonte la châtaigneraie dans sa totalité, et permet de découvrir les importants travaux de soutènement autour de chaque arbre.
Après environ 45 mn de marche, il débouche sur la crête, au niveau d’un col marqué par une croix métallique.
L’itinéraire oblique sur la droite en se rapprochant du pied d’une imposante falaise constituée par une ancienne roche magmatique (anciennes laves sous marines), un gabbro de cristaux.
C’est à cet endroit même que les passionnés d’escalade pourront exercer leurs talents, car un des plus beau site d’escalade de Corse a été mis en place par le Parc Naturel Régional de Corse. De nombreuses voies ont été tracées dans le gabbro de couleur verdâtre. (cristaux disposés en feuillets de feldspath et pyroxène.
En poursuivant le chemin, on arrive au lieu dit « i scalli », qui peut s’avérer dangereux, car très glissant du fait de l’humidité ambiante ou de la neige selon la saison, sur les dalles.
Après ce court passage, le sentier se faufile au milieu d’une forêt de chênes pubescents et atteint assez vite le sommet (1218 m).
La partie sommitale du Monte San Anghjelu a été aménagée : Murs de soutènement et trace d’une ancienne chapelle

This route in the Parc Naturel Régional de Corse explores the northern section of the Castagniccia, a region with an impressive past and dotted with over a hundred hamlets which have retained their 19C atmosphere, with Romanesque chapels and Baroque churches standing beneath the shade of hundred-year-old chestnut trees. A journey back in time!
The path follows the left bank of the Acqua Freddula stream, passes through a grove of chestnut trees, then crosses two enclosures.
Dotted red and white markings and yellow lines indicate the path to follow through groves of chestnut and alder trees.
The path climbs through the entire chestnut grove, providing an opportunity to examine the support structures around each tree.
After walking for approximately 45 minutes the path comes to a ridge, by a pass marked by a metallic cross.
The route veers off to the right as it approaches the foot of an imposing cliff made up of magma rock (old underwater lava) and gabbro crystals.
It?s here, in one of Corsica?s most beautiful climbing sites established by the Parc Naturel Régional de Corse, that keen climbers can practice their skills. Numerous climbing routes have been marked in the greenish-coloured gabbro (layers of feldspath and pyroxene crystals).
Following the path, you come to the place known as ""I Scalli "", which can be slippery and dangerous due to the humidity and dampness or snow on the stones, depending on the season.
After this short section, the path weaves through the middle of a forest of pubescent oaks, reaching the summit (1,218m) fairly quickly.
Work has been carried out on the summit of Monte San Anghjelu: supporting walls and the remnants of an old chapel.

Da Silvareccio, all'uscita del villaggio se si arriva da Casinca, fermarsi all?altezza del ponte sul ruscello. Parcheggiare alcuni metri più lontano, in direzione del villaggio di Piana.

Un itinerario attraverso il Parco naturale regionale della Corsica alla scoperta del versante est della Castagniccia. Una regione dal passato prestigioso con più di cento borghi del 19°secolo, cappelle romaniche e chiese barocche all'ombra dei castagni centenari. Un viaggio a ritroso nel tempo.
Il sentiero risale la riva sinistra del ruscello e si inoltra in un castagneto dopo aver superato due recinti.
Una segnaletica costituita da punti rossi e bianchi e da tratti gialli, indica la strada da seguire tra castagni ed olmi
Il sentiero attraverso il castagneto e consente di ammirare numerose opere di sostegno intorno ad ogni albero.
Dopo circa 45 mn di marcia, si arriva in cima, all?altezza di un colle segnato da una croce metallica.
L'itinerario gira a destra verso un'imponente scogliera costituita da vecchie rocce magmatiche (lave vulcaniche marine) e da minerali.
Un luogo ideale per gli appassionati di arrampicata che potranno mettersi alla prova, uno dei siti di arrampicata più belli di tutta l?isola, creato dal Parco Naturale Regionale della Corsica con numerose vie tracciate nella roccia verdastra (minerali disposti a faglie, feldspato e pyroxène)
Proseguendo sulla strada, si arriva al luogo chiamato ?i scalli" che può essere pericoloso, perché molto scivoloso a causa dell'umidità in loco o della neve sulle lastre, in base alla stagione.
Dopo questo breve passaggio, il sentiero si inoltra nel mezzo di una foresta di querce pubescenti e arriva abbastanza rapidamente in cima (1218 m).
La cima del Monte San Anghjelu regala numerose sorprese: muri esterni e tracce di una antica cappella.
