You can with some netbooks (you'll need a data acuonct with a cellular carrier that will run you at least $50/month in most cases you can't connect wirelessly to the internet with out problems no matter where I am any other way), and a netbook is enough for browsing the web (which is what you do on eBay) and taking class notes.
