Au niveau parking de la station d’Ese se diriger au nord-est vers la ligne de crête en suivant les pylônes du remonte-pente de la station (1 h). Des cairns puis un sentier invitent à suivre la crête de Scaldasole versant ouest. Attention si la neige persiste sur ce flanc, les glissades peuvent être dangereuses. Le sentier reste grossièrement sur la courbe de niveau jusqu’au col. myOasAd('Position1'); Il bascule ensuite dans le vallon des Pozzi. Il peut être intéressant au lieu de descendre par le sentier de continuer au-delà du col sur la crête jusqu’à l’altitude d’environ 2 000 mètres. La vue sur les trois étages de Pozzi est alors remarquable. Si l’on n’a pas peur des aulnes, on peut tenter de rejoindre les pozzi situés à la cote 1815 m. Une vague trace part à flanc en diagonale vers l’étage inférieur des Pozzi ; bien la repérer avant de s’y lancer. Après avoir testé l’élasticité du manteau tourbeux il est temps de rejoindre la bergerie des Pozzi et d’aller à la rencontre de l’un des derniers bergers transhumants fabriquant brocciu et fromages l’été à la montagne. Si l’on a de la chance on verra peut-être Jean-François Battistelli en pleine fabrication. On préférera au retour direct une boucle passant par la Foce d’Astra. De la bergerie suivre les cairns en direction sud. La trace cairnée et balisée perd tout d’abord un peu d’altitude en pénétrant dans une hêtraie, puis elle reste un temps à la même altitude avant de gravir une raide pente qui conduit à l’ancien refuge de Foce d’Astra et au col. De ce dernier il est très facile de rejoindre la station. A découvrir : Le petit train du maquis au col de Crichettu entre Cavru et Bastelica. At the Ese resort car park, head north-east towards the ridge following the ski-tow pylons (1hr). Cairns and then a footpath lead to the western side of the Scaldasole ridge. Caution: if there is heavy snow on this side of the mountain, the path can become slippery and dangerous. The path roughly follows the contour line as far as the pass.
The path then turns suddenly into the Vallon des Pozzi. Instead of heading down along the path, you may prefer to continue beyond the pass along the ridge up to an altitude of around 2,000m. The view from here of the three levels of pozzi (marshy ground dotted with pools and streams) is stunning. If you don't mind walking through alder trees, you can then head towards the pozzi situated at 1,815m. A faint track leads diagonally down towards the lower level of the pozzi; make sure that you can make out the track before you set off. After hiking along the springy surface of the peat, head towards the Bergerie des Pozzi (shepherd's hut) to meet one of the last tranhumant shepherds in Corsica, who continues to make brocciu and cheese in the mountains in summer. If you're lucky, you might even catch Jean-François Battistelli making his cheese.
For the return, take the more direct loop which heads via the Foce d?Astra. From the bergerie, follow the cairns south. The cairn-marked and waymarked track firstly heads downhill through a beech wood, then stays at the same altitude for a while before heading down a steep slope which leads to the old refuge of Foce d?Astra and to the pass. From the pass, there is an easy path back to the resort.

Dopo avere provato l'elasticità della torba si raggiunge l'ovile dei Pozzi e si può incontrare uno degli ultimi pastori di transumanza che producono il brocciu e molti altri formaggi di montagna. Con un po? di fortuna si vedrà forse Jean-Francesco Battistelli al lavoro mentre produce i suoi formaggi. Per il ritorno si può scegliere un anello che passa dalla Foce di Astra. Dall'ovile seguire gli accumuli di pietre (cairn) verso sud. La traccia segnalata perde in pendenza perchè entra in un faggeto e poi prosegue per un certo periodo con un?altitudine costante prima di percorrere una rigida pendenza che conduce al vecchio rifugio di Foce di Astra e al colle.
