COMITÉ DES FÊTES ET DE L'ANIMATION DU PATRIMOINE DE BASTIA

This event re-enacts the official procession of the CAMBIU DI BASTIA, the official handing-over of power to the new governor of Bastia (the capital of the Kingdom of Corsica). The procession heads from Terra Vecchia to Terra-Nova, with characters dressed in historical costumes wandering through the streets, entertaining spectators with a variety of tableaux vivants. Dancers, musicians, actors, archers, fencers, troubadours, flag-throwers and other historical characters provide further excitement for the watching galleries who are taken back in time on this magical day. As part of the event, a number of the city?s monuments are illuminated, including the spectacular ceremonial burning of the citadel.
