Symbole vivant de la tradition, elle remplace l'église primitive trop étroite. Commencée vers 1852, elle ne fut achevée que 20 ans plus tard. Les fidèles travaillaient tous à cette construction chaque dimanche après la messe et jusqu'à la tombée de la nuit. Le sanctuaire, comme dans tout temple oriental, est séparé de la nef par une iconostase ou cloison en bois recouverte d'images saintes. Cette iconostase, destinée d'abord au couvent de Grotta Ferrata prés de Rome, est un don de la congrégation de la propagande à la Colonie, en 1886.

A living symbol of tradition, it replaced the too-narrow edifice of the early church. Begun around 1852, construction lasted two full decades. Every Sunday, from mass until sundown, the entire congregation lent a hand in the construction of the church. As in all eastern churches, the sanctuary is separated from the nave by an "iconostasis", or icon-covered wooden partition. This iconostasis, originally meant for the Grotta Ferrata convent near Rome, was donated by the Propagande Congregation and dates from 1886.
Simbolo vivo della tradizione, sostituisce la chiesa primitiva troppo stretta. Cominciata verso 1852, fu completata soltanto 20 anni più tardi. I fedeli lavoravano tutti a questa costruzione ogni domenica dopo la messa e fino alla caduta dalla notte. Il santuario, come in ogni tempio orientale, è separato della navata da uno iconostase o divisione in legno coperta di immagini sante. Questo iconostase, destinata inizialmente al convento di Grotta Ferrata nei pressi di Roma, è un regalo della congregazione della propaganda alla colonia, in 1886.
