Vitrine de l'artisanat Balanin, Pigna ( meule de blé en langue Corse)est un charmant village médiéval piéton, aux ruelles encaissées et fleuries. Sa place di l'Olmu offre une vue superbe sur la côte et ses marines.
Pigna a en outre depuis quelques années mis la musique à l'honneur puisqu'il accueille chaque année au mois de Juillet le festival Festivoce consacré aux polyphonies alliées à la danse et au théatre.
Le village est dominé par son église batie dans le plus pur style Baroque Italien du XVIIeme Siécle et agrémentée d'un Campanile remarquable.
A noter que le village de Pigna a été entièrement réstauré selon des techniques anciennes que les maçons se sont réaéppropriées à base d'un alliage de terre glaise et de stuff.

A showcase for arts and crafts from the Balagne region, Pigna (which is the Corsican word for a millstone) is a charming medieval village with pedestrianised narrow streets full of flowers. The village's Place di l'Olmu boasts magnifcient views of the coast and sea.
For the past few years, Pigna has hosted a music festival (Festivoce) in the month of July, which is dedicated to dance, theatre and polyphonic song.
The village is dominated by its 17C church built in pure Italian Baroque style, crowned by an impressive bell tower.
It is interesting to note that Pigna has been fully restored using traditional techniques re-learnt by its stonemasons, who worked with materials such as clay.
