8- Are the hotels good quality?

Over the past few years Corsica’s hotels have developed considerably, in particular as a result of a programme of modernisation: 170 out of 400 existing hotels have benefited from this, 30 new hotels (1,200 beds) have been built, 300 furnished properties created, accommodation for close to 8,000 visitors has been modernised, and many properties have improved their facilities, both in terms of quality and range of products offered.

Standard European norms are applicable in Corsica.

A recent increase in the number of top-end properties means that the island is able to offer visitors a choice of smaller luxury and boutique hotels with a range of unique facilities and enhanced by a personalised service far removed from the larger resort hotels in the main tourist areas. Corsica has 22 4-star hotels, two of which are members of the "Relais & Châteaux" network and one of which is one of the world’s "Leading Hotels". The main drawback with these top-end hotels is that because of their small capacity (an average of 30 guestrooms) they fill up quickly in high season.

It’s worth noting that a number of hotels have excellent restaurants and as a result can attract customers from outside the hotel. The majority of hotels on the island are independent, family-run properties offering medium levels of comfort (149 two-star hotels and 96 three-star hotels) with relatively basic yet perfectly functional facilities and decor. Don’t forget that the island also has lots of hidden jewels amongst its tourist residences, bed & breakfasts and gîtes, details of which can be found in our tour operators’ brochures.
