Journey along two mythical hiking routes GR20, and the Mare a Monti, swim in the natural mountain pools and crystal-clear waters of the Gulf of Porto and discover typical villages alongside classified sites.

 

The programme includes visits to some of the most spectacular parts of the island including the Lake of Ninu, the massif of the Paglia Orba, the Valley of the Aïtone, the Gorges of the Spelunca and the Gulf of Porto, Girolata and the Calanche de Piana.

 

 

THE STAGES OF THE CIRCUIT

 

DAY 1 AJACCIO

Arrive in Ajaccio, transfer from the airport to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

 

DAY 2 THE NIOLU VALLEY

The first hike follows the ancient mule tracks which lead to the Genoese bridge of Muriccioli. Passing through ancient mountain meadows and glorious countryside, we arrive "at the village".

Dinner and overnight in Calacuccia.

 

DAY 3 NINU LAKE

6h / D+850m / D-600m

From Colga valley to Lake Ninu, discover this safe haven in the Corsican mountains for wild horses. Enjoy a picnic on the vast verges bordering the lake (I pozzi). From the Gulf of Sagone to the summit of the Cintu, the panorama is breath-taking.

DAY 4 THE RADULE WATERFALLS AND THE GOLU VALLEY

Follow the GR20 to the heart of the volcanic massif of Paglia Orba. Stop at the sheep pastures and grab some refreshment under the Radule waterfalls.

Dinner and overnight at Castel di Vergio.

 

DAY 5 NATURAL POOLS OF AÎTONE

5h30 / D+200m / D-750m.

Col de Vergio, Aïtone valley, famous for its laricio pine forest. Linger at the edge of the crystal-clear pools filled by mountain streams. Villa d'Evisa by the Chemin du châtaignier (chestnut tree path.

Dinner and overnight in Evisa.

 

DAY 6 GORGES OF THE SPELUNCA

4h   / D+270m / D-800m.

Visit the Gorges de la Spelunc – a marvel of red granite sculptures. Take a break at the water's edge at the Genoese bridge of Zaglia.

Dinner and overnight in Ota.

 

DAY 7 THE GULF OF PORTO

4h / D+200m / D-530m.

Mare e Monti. You’ll be wowed by the remarkable views at the Calanques de Piana, the Gulf of Porto and the Scandola Nature Reserve. Return to Ajaccio in the early afternoon.

Dinner and overnight in a hotel in Ajaccio.

 

DAY 8 AJACCIO

Breakfast, free day according to return flight schedules.

Airport transfer.

  • Local mountain guide with state diploma.
  • A sleeping bag is required. Accommodation is dormitory level. Room option possible (excluding day 6) – please contact us for details.
  • Luggage transport provided between accommodation.
