Located half an hour from Ajaccio, U Palazzu was built in the late 18th century by order of Napoleon Bonaparte, who wanted a holiday residence in the village of his ancestors.
It has nine rooms of different themes, including the archeology of the village and its surroundings, everyday life, customs and furniture. Some of the 19th century’s greatest writers wrote about Bocognano.
All exhibits are beautifully presented, complemented by screens scrolling dozens of vintage photos.
