Stand-up Paddle and surfing in Farinole

By Nathalie Published 22/08/2013

Several hundred metres of fine sandy beach, wide enough to give everyone enough room to improvise, perhaps even enjoy a game of football. In the background, the maquis that reaches right down, almost touching the breaking waves...

Farinole beach is not so well known by the general public, and is a real jewel of the Cap. It is here that the Bastia born surfer-skater, Jean-Valère Bordenave, set up his water sports centre this year. This new venture is based on the model of his other centre, established in 2012 with great success, in Grisgione on the other side of the Cap.

In this pretty little spot, certified instructor Jean-Valère, who has cut his teeth on the waves of several oceans, offers surfing courses with his comrade Jean-Pierre. How do you keep your balance? How do you catch your first wave? And when the seas are too calm, enthusiasts will be able to jump onto their boards and enjoy stand-up paddle, a sport that is easily accessible to beginners, where you simply stand upright on the board and paddle.

It is worth noting that all the boards that are used have been made, by hand, in the workshop of craftsman Jean-Valère.
