According to the label, you should head to Ajaccio to swim – specifically to the Sacred Land and Trottel beaches (the latter already recognised in 2017).
Both sites meet the criteria necessary to obtain Blue Flag status, related to the environment, water and waste management. Naturally, bathing water must be of ‘excellent quality’, with five controls carried out per season.
As for Blue Flag marinas, only two of the 20 or so in Corsica have achieved the status: Saint-Florent and Solenzara, both in Haute-Corse.
Here again, managers need to prove their environmental credentials, including the recycling of at least three types of household waste and three types of special waste, as well as a guaranteed water level.
