Introduction : Dans le Parc naturel régional de Corse cet itinéraire propose de découvrir la Castagniccia (la châtaigneraie). Une région au passé prestigieux parsemée de plus de cent hameaux figés au 19 e siècle, aux chapelles romanes et églises baroques à l’ombre des châtaigniers centenaires . Un voyage dans le temps.
Description de l’itinéraire ;
A Piedicroce après avoir visité l’église baroque St Pierre et St Paul, départ de la fontaine à colonnes en empruntant la boucle 1 des sentiers du Parc régional. Gravir les escaliers, traversée de la partie haute du village, découverte des toits en lauzes et des premiers châtaigniers centenaires.
Au hameau de Pastoreccia parcourir les ruelles pavées et les anciennes maisons tours en direction de Campodonicu. Dans ce hameau et le promontoire, attention au vertige, depuis la petite place de la chapelle vue panoramique sur la vallée d’Orezza et le mont San petrone. Direction Pied’Orezza en suivant les panneaux boucle 1
Avant le village, ruines de la chapelle romane San Nicolao, traverser le village de Pied’Orezza puis un petit pont et un lavoir. Il est possible d’aller jusqu’à la chapelle romane de Santa Maria, avant de reprendre la direction de Piedipartino.
A Piedipartinu observer la porte sculptée polychrome de l’église avec ses motifs de dragon et « la maison forte », en face.
Après dix minutes de marche, découverte de la cascade de Carcheto. Remonter les escaliers sommairement aménagés et après être passé devant la fontaine sous voûte de l’Onda le sentier conduit au village de Carcheto.

Reprendre ensuite le sentier en directin de Stazzona.Au croisement avec la boucle 3 prendre à gauche en direction de Stazzona. A voir les grandes demeures de notable du 19 ème siècle et quelques maisons fortes du 16 ème siècle ainsi que d’anciens hôtels des Sources thermales d’Orezza.
Le retour vers Piedicrocce fait découvrir la partie basse du village et rejoindre le point de départ.

Introduction: This route through the Parc Naturel Régional de Corse explores the Castagniccia and its chestnut groves, a region with an impressive past and dotted with over a hundred hamlets which have retained their 19C atmosphere, with Romanesque chapels and Baroque churches standing beneath the shade of hundred-year-old chestnut trees. A journey back in time!
Walk description:
After visiting the Baroque Eglise St Pierre et St Paul, begin your walk from the columned fountain, following the Parc Régional?s walk 1. Climb the steps, passing through the upper part of the village, admiring the lauze roofs and hundred-year-old chestnut trees along the way.
Stroll through the narrow paved streets and past old houses and towers in the hamlet of Piedicroce en route to Campodonicu, where you?ll need a head for heights both here and on the promontory. From the small square by the chapel enjoy splendid views of the Orezza valley and Mont San Petrone. Head towards Pied?Orezza following the Walk 1 (boucle 1) panels.
Admire the ruins of the Romanesque chapel of San Nicolao before you get to the village, then walk through Pied?Orezza, crossing a small bridge and passing a wash-house along the way. It is possible to continue to the Romanesque chapel of Santa Maria before continuing on towards Piedipartino.
In Piedipartinu note the church?s polychrome sculpted doorway with its dragon motifs, as well as the "Maison Forte" opposite.
After a further ten minutes? walk you come to the Carcheto waterfall. Climb the steps (which are in fairly basic condition) and once you have passed in front of the vaulted Onda fountain, the path leads to the village of Carcheto.

Follow the path towards Stazzona. At the crossroads with Walk 3 (Boucle 3), turn left towards Stazzona. Note the large 19C residences belonging to important local citizens of the time, as well as a few 16C fortified houses, and former hotels at the spa at Orezza.
The return journey back to Piedicrocce provides an opportunity to explore the lower part of the village before heading back to the starting point.

Descrizione dell'itinerario;
A Piedicroce dopo avere visitato la chiesa barocca di St Pierre e St Paul ( San Pietro e Paolo) , partenza dalla fontana a colonne prendendo il primo anello dei sentieri del Parco regionale. Percorrere le scale, attraversate la parte alta del villaggio, ammirate i tetti in lauzes e i castagni centenari.
Nella frazione di Pastoreccia percorrere le viuzze lastricate e le vecchie case con le torri in direzione di Campodonicu; in questa frazione e sul promontorio, attenzione ai capogiri. Dalla piccola piazza della cappella la vista panoramica sulla valle di Orezza ed il monte San Petrone è veramente unica. Poi prendere la direzione Pied'Orezza seguendo i cartelli dell?anello n° 1
Prima del villaggio, date un occhio alle rovine della cappella romanica di San Nicolao, poi attraversate il villaggio di Pied'Orezza un piccolo ponte ed infine un lavatoio. È possibile andare fino alla cappella romanica di Santa Maria, prima di riprendere la direzione di Piedipartino.
A Piedipartinu osservare la porta scolpita policroma della chiesa con i motivi del drago e "la casa forte", di fronte.
Dopo dieci minuti di cammino, si scopre la cascata di Carcheto. Risalire le scale sommariamente attrezzate e dopo essere passati davanti alla fontana sotto la volta dell'Onda il sentiero vi conduce al villaggio di Carcheto.

Riprendere poi il sentiero in direzione di Stazzona all? incrocio con l?anello n°3 prendere a sinistra in direzione di Stazzona. Da vedere le grandi dimore dei notabili del 19 ° secolo ed alcune case del 16 ° secolo oltre a diversi hotel dell?epoca delle Sorgenti termali di Orezza.
Per raggiungere il punto di partenza, sulla strada del ritorno verso Piedicrocce potrete ammirare la parte bassa del villaggio.
