Situation :
Depuis la vallée du Fium’Altu prendre la D 46 en direction de Piazzole.* La suivre jusqu’à son terminus au niveau du village de Parata.
Parking : place de l’église de Parata.
Balisage : orange

Introduction :
Dans le Parc naturel régional de Corse cet itinéraire propose de découvrir la face Est de la Castagniccia. Une région au passé prestigieux parsemée de plus de cent hameaux figés au 19 eme siècle, aux chapelles romanes et églises baroques à l’ombre des châtaigniers centenaires . Un voyage dans le temps.
Description de l’itinéraire ;
Le sentier part au dessus de la route et monte au milieu d’une chataigneraie. Il serpente dans le bassin versant du ruisseau de Pollace.
On atteint au bout d’une heure (1074m) au niveau duquel se trouve la chapelle de Saint Barthélémy.
Le sentier étant en majeure partie dans la forêt, la chapelle n’apparaît qu’au dernier moment.
Dans cet endroit on a une vue splendide :
- A L’ouest sur la chaîne du San Petrone, le haut bassin du Fium’Altu et au-delà de la chaîne du Cintu.
- A l’Est, sur la côte orientale et le secteur d’A Padulella (Moriani plage)
- Au Nord, sur les premiers sommets du Cap Corse, l’Etang de Biguglia et la ville de Bastia.
A noter aussi la présence d’une source en contrebas de la chapelle, et d’une bergerie d’estive appuyée à celle-ci.
Poursuivre maintenant par le sentier d’A Monaccia d’Orezza. Ce dernier permettra de rejoindre le hameau de Pichjaracce.
Cette partie du sentier est constituée d’un dallage de grandes dalles calcshistes remarquablement conservées. Ceci est le témoignage de l’importance qu’a eut par le passé le col de Saint Barthélémy. C’était le moyen de communication entre le secteur d’Orezza et Moriani.
Enfin une fois arrivé au hameau de Pichjaracce, rejoindre la voiture en empruntant sur 2,5 km la D46 entre Monaccia et Parata.

- L’église baroque de la Porta, monument de l’art baroque.
- Les eaux d’Orezza, ancienne station thermale site d’embouteillage de l’eau d’Orezza.
- Les couvents d’Alesani, d’Orezza et de Casabianca, chargés de l’histoire du 18 ème siècle.
- Le San Petrone l’un des sommets de la Corse schisteuse 1767 m, vue sur l’archipel toscan et la chaîne centre.
- Les portes des églises de Castagniccia. Notamment celle de Piazzole * qui est classée.

This route through the Parc Naturel Régional de Corse explores the eastern section of the Castagniccia, a region with an impressive past dotted with over a hundred hamlets which have retained their 19C atmosphere, with Romanesque chapels and Baroque churches standing beneath the shade of hundred-year-old chestnut trees. A journey back in time!
Walk description:
The footpath heads above the road and climbs through a grove of chestnut trees. It then winds its way through the catchment basin of the Pollace stream.
After an hour you will reach the Chapelle de Saint Barthélémy at an altitude of 1,074m.
As most of the footpath is through the forest, the chapel only appears at the last moment.
From here you can enjoy a splendid view:
-To the west, the San Petrone chain and the upper basin of the Fium?Altu, with the Cintu chain in the distance.
-To the east, the east coast and the area of A Padulella (Moriani Plage).
-To the north, the first summits of Cap Corse, the Etang de Biguglia and the city of Bastia.
Note also the spring below the chapel and the shepherd?s summer hut alongside it.
Now continue along the A Monaccia d?Orezza path which leads to the hamlet of Pichjaracce.
This section of the path is made up of a mosaic of large - and remarkably preserved - schist slabs which bear witness to the importance of the Saint Barthélémy pass in days gone by, when it acted as the main communication route between the Orezza area and Moriani.
Once you arrive at the hamlet of Pichjaracce, head back to your car by walking along the D46 between Monaccia and Parata for a distance of 2.5km.

Un itinerario attraverso il Parco naturale regionale della Corsica alla scoperta del versante est della Castagniccia. Una regione dal passato prestigioso con più di cento borghi del 19°secolo, cappelle romaniche e chiese barocche all'ombra dei castagni centenari. Un viaggio a ritroso nel tempo.

Il sentiero comincia dalla strada e sale nel cuore di un castagneto fino al bacino che versa le proprie acque nel ruscello di Pollace.
Dopo un?ora a circa 1074m di altezza sorge la cappella di Saint Barthélémy che appare all?ultimo momento proprio perché il sentiero sbuca dalla foresta.
Da qui la vista è splendida:
- Ad ovest la catena di San Petronio, l'alto bacino del Fium'Altu ed al di là, la catena del Cintu.
- Ad est, la costa orientale ed il versante di A Padulella, (Moriani plage)
- A Nord, le alture di Cap Corse, lo stagno di Biguglia e la città di Bastia.
Da notare anche una sorgente ad un?altezza inferiore rispetto alla cappella con un ovile (bergerie) estivo addossato.
Prendere il sentiero di A Monaccia di Orezza fino alla frazione di Pichjaracce.
Questa parte del sentiero è formata da grandi lastre calcificate ben conservate, a testimoniare che nel passato il colle di Saint Barthélémy era un?importante via di comunicazione tra Orezza e Moriani.
Infine una volta arrivati a Pichjaracce, tornare alla macchina attraverso la D46, 2,5 km tra Monaccia e Parata.
