L'Ile Rousse est l'autre station balnéaire de la côte.Son nom vient des rochers de porphyre rouge de l'ile de la Pietra , juste au nord de la ville.Ancien comptoir romain, son essor date véritablement de Pascal Paoli qui y édifia un port et des remparts pour concurrencer le trafic maritime entre Gênes et Calvi.Son climat est si doux que l'on pourrait l'appeler l'ile Douce.Et rien n'est plus agréable que de flâner à l'ombre des platanes centenaires de la place Paoli ou de jouer à la pétanque sur la Grande Place bordée de palmiers-dattiers.

Ile-Rousse is the other seaside resort along this stretch of coastline. Its name originates from the red porphyry rocks from the Ile de la Pietra, just to the north of the town. A former Roman trading post, its main period of growth stemmed from the time of Pascal Paoli, who built a port and ramparts here in order to compete for maritime trade on the route between Genoa and Calvi. Its climate is so pleasant that the town was nicknamed the "île douce" or "mild island". Nothing can be more pleasant that strolling beneath the shade of the centuries-old plane trees in Place Paoli or playing boules on the Grande Place, lined with date palms.
L'ile Rousse è l'altra stazione balneare della costa. Il suo nome trae origine dalle rocce di Porfirio rosso dell'isola di Pietra, a nord della città. Antico posto romano, il suo sviluppo è dovuto a Pascal Paoli che edificò un porto e dei bastioni per contrastare il traffico marittimo tra Genova e Calvi. Il suo clima le hanno valso il nome di Isola Dolce.. Una cittadina dove è piacevole girovagare all'ombra dei platani centenari di Place Paoli o giocare a bocce sulla Grande Piazza ricca di palme e datteri
