Looking for a break to celebrate spring? In April and May, we're offering you a gourmet break to discover the flavours of Bonifacio.
Five days of tastings and encounters with our local products and committed professionals. Five days in the heart of the medieval city to discover our expertise and our flagship products. It's an experience in taste and heritage.
Why this trip?
Local produce
Bonifacio's approach to tourism is guided by environmental concerns. At every stage of your stay, you can combine the pleasure of a holiday with responsible travel. Bonifacio's gastronomic specialities are not only delicious, they are also prepared using fresh, local and seasonal produce. Thanks to committed professionals who work every day for the ecological transition.
Heritage
Bonifacio, a sentinel on the Mediterranean, has been awarded the Ville d'Art et d'Histoire (Town of Art and History) label since 2019. Thanks to their preservation and enhancement, the historic monuments and the medieval citadel as a whole tell their own story to Bonifacians and visitors alike. This holiday is an opportunity to visit unique places at the best times of the day.
Encounters
Authentic encounters during a visit to a winery and wine tasting. You'll also meet people who are passionate about nature and flowers when you visit the permaculture garden.
YOUR PROGRAMME
Day 1
Arrival at your accommodation
Transfer by hire car to your accommodation chosen from our list of partners. This day is free so that you can ease into your holiday. You can walk freely along the majestic paths that surround the city or take in the atmosphere of a place steeped in history. Lunch and dinner are on your own, but you can opt for one of our partner restaurants. In the upper town or on the legendary Bonifacio Marina.
Day 2
Nature break and wine tasting
In the morning, you'll find yourself immersed in Charlène and Marc Ceselia's permaculture garden. They grow edible flowers and fruit and vegetables, which they transform into chutneys, mezzés, flavoured oils and other fabulous products. This timeless place, dotted with a thousand colours, connects you to nature in its purest form. You can sample the products that the couple invent in their laboratory. At the end of the day, return to the city where one of the partner grocery shops welcomes you for a gourmet rendez-vous. On the programme: a tasting of Corsican charcuterie, cheeses and wines, but above all an explanation of the origins, traditions and know-how that go into each of these products by their passionate owners. Lunch and the early afternoon are free. In the middle of the afternoon, you'll join Pierre, who will be waiting to tell you the secrets of the ingenious management of water in the Upper Town. You will visit a well-hidden old cistern. Dinner on your own.
Day 3
Market strolls
Start the day with a stroll through the farmers' market in the Upper Town. The tastes and smells will whet your appetite. We recommend lunching in the heart of the city over a local speciality or spuntinu (snack). As an after-dinner drink, the historic monuments open up to you. The famous Escalier du Roy d'Aragon and the Bastion de l'Étendard await you for breathtaking views of the open sea, the cliffs and, weather permitting, the neighbouring coasts of Sardinia. Your evening is free.
At the end of the day, return to town where one of our partner grocery shops will welcome you for a gourmet rendez-vous. The programme includes a tasting of Corsican cured meats, cheeses and wines, but above all an explanation of the origins, traditions and know-how behind each of these products by passionate producers.
Day 4
Corsican wine tasting
In the late morning, you'll discover the Buzzo wine estate, one of three in Bonifacia. Vincent and his family will show you around the estate and pass on their love of the land and the grapes. They also explain the type of farming they have chosen. Respectful of cycles and nature. The tour ends with a tasting of some of the estate's vintages. This should whet your appetite and allow you to head off to one of the town's many restaurants for a lunch to suit you. On your final afternoon, why not do a little shopping in the cool streets of Bonifacio? At the end of the afternoon, Corse Nautic Escape will take you out for a sunset on the water, accompanied by a tasting of local produce. This is paradise.
Day 5
Hiking in the fresh air
It's time to pack your bags for the end of this holiday, which has been one of slowness and pleasure. If you still have time before your plane or boat, you can take another hike or try one of the many outdoor activities offered by our partners. See you soon in Bonifacio!
