2 Saint-Florent to Calvi
This day starts with a crossing of the Agriates Desert, a protected area of great beauty with incredible landscapes. Via hardly known, narrow mountains roads, you will cross olive groves peppered with cacti and prickly pear trees. Then, you’ll reach typical villages where cows roam freely (watch out!). The landscape will take on a lunar and desert appearance, a fascinating and breath-taking sight, before you reach Balagne. Don’t miss the chance to take a break in Belgodère by the main square in front of the church before continuing on the route des artisans. You’re headed for Calvi, home to a marvellous marina and imposing citadel.

3 Calvi to Porto
Climb the Palmarella pass to enjoy breath-taking views. Then descend between maquis and the cliffs via in a succession of narrow bends and past charming villages where you can stop for coffee or tea. You will soon arrive at a beautiful little seaside village with plenty of water-based activities. Explore the famous Calanques de Piana along with an ancient village which reflects the influence of Greek inhabitants its with many churches. Continue on the seaside route before heading inland. Beware of pigs that roam freely! Your journey takes you to the chestnut capital of the island before descending into glorious gorges where you’re sure to encounter herds of goats.

4 Sea trip
Today on your itinerary is a ‘must-do’ boat trip. Leaving Porto, head to the Scandola Reserve, Girolata (30 minutes stopover), the famous Calanques de Piana and the caves of Capo Rosso. The walk takes around 3h30 minutes and there are three departures per day:
09:00: this one is for the early birds. At this time of the morning the boat trip is the perfect way to start the day with mild temperatures, a slight breeze and the colours of the sea, the sky and the landscape are incredible.
14:00 By now the day will become warmer and it’s a great chance to enjoy a swim. Under a deep blue sky with full sun, there’s not much that beats an afternoon boat trip on the turquoise waters.
17.30 Though there’s a slight drop in temperature, the water is still perfect for a relaxing swim as you admire the colourful rocks, painted by the setting sun – it really is a stunning sight.

5 Travel to the heart of the island: Corte
Next on your itinerary, reach a charming village renowned for its Genoese bridges and olive groves. You’ll head for the highest point of Corsica, then descend the winding road that will lead you to the shores of a stunning lake. The beautiful Scala di Santa Regina road will take you almost to Castagniccia where winding roads flow for many kilometres. Before you reach your evening stop over, you’ll have the change to discover the famous Gorges de la Restonica.

6 Corte to Propriano
Continue your trip along the east coast, where there are glorious views. Once in Ajaccio, wander through the city where Napoleon Bonaparte was born, and visit the Pointe des Sanguinaires, an area of outstanding natural beauty and sensational white sand beaches. Then take the coastal road and drive past eucalyptus trees to reach an old penitentiary before arriving at the small village of Taravo for your evening stopover.

7 Bonifacio and Bavella
First, stop at Sartène before continuing through more desert landscapes to Bonifacio with its impressive cliffs. Following a route which takes you alongside the most beautiful beaches of Corsica head towards the heart of the island via the famous Aiguilles de Bavella. There are lots of opportunities to take a dip in the crystal clear waters of the rivers along the way. Afterwards descend into the Alta Rocca area to spend the night.

8 To Bastia
Now your journey will take you to the north! Take to the narrow roads of Castagniccia, one of the wildest and most authentic regions of Corsica before heading up to the Nebbiu area and then down to Moriani.
