A Stazzona: a holiday combining culture and nature

In the lovely area of Guissani in Haute-Corse a few kilometers from the Balagne, you can experience a holiday combining culture and nature. Throughout the year, the artistic space A Stazzona (‘The Forge’) opens its doors for exciting workshops in theatre, circus arts, singing and dance, for both amateurs and professionals.

If you’re an artsy type and want to share your passion with other people, take advantage of the courses organised by the ARIA association. It’s also an opportunity to visit Corsica in the winter, and have a holiday punctuated by culture based in an area where calm and tranquility reign supreme.

Giussani

Only 45 minutes from L’Île-Rousse and an hour from Calvi, the Giussani Valley will enchant you with its natural beauty. Surrounded by mighty peaks including Monte Padru and San Parteu, it’s home to exceptional flora and fauna – you may even encounter protected species such as the Royal Milan and Mouflon. You can lose yourself on the many hiking trails bordered with oaks and chestnuts, or in the Tartagine forest. Pop into the Guissani tourist office in Olmi Capella to pick up trail maps.

At the heart of this natural park are other small villages with authentic charm, including Pioggiola and Valica, with various interesting buildings. The Giussani valley is the ideal place to relax and learn about Corsica’s natural heritage, seductive in both winter and summer.

ARIA

The Association of International Artistic Encounters (ARIA) has been supporting artistic and cultural endeavours since 1998.

It organises internships to nurture artistic creation, uniting several areas including theatre, circus arts, singing and dance. Each internship ends with a presentation to an audience. The real value is in the cooperation between amateurs and professionals – they learn from each other, collectively growing in their ability to express, breathe and create.

A STAZZONA (the FORGE)

Located in Pioggiola, A Stazzona is an artistic space entirely dedicated to training and creativity. It has a large main room of 420 square metres, plus lodges and separate work spaces made available to trainees and teachers, as well as students on arts education programmes.

Throughout the year, ARIA organises courses for young and old alike.

The price of the workshops includes all teaching, plus food and accommodation.
