The Casa di Roccapina

A Casa di Roccapina: a timeless place

A few kilometers from Sartène towards southern Corsica, I visited A Casa di Roccapina, old house-turned-museum guarded by a stone lion ( maybe it's the reverse.?) , also housing an exhibition space and theatre.

This unusual place is full of information on the small area of Corsican territory that is the Roccapina pass; I’m transported to a phantasmagorical world of mystical legend. From the birth of the great lion to the creation of the Taffoni or the construction of the Orii, everything is recounted here by narrator Jane, the lion’s ‘daughter’. It’s well worth a visit, full of mysteries and secrets about how this majestic rock came into being, now seemingly watching over the Roccapina beach.
