Meet Paul Poli, naturalist, ornithologist and mountain guide

Naturalist, ornithologist, mountain guide, guide speaker, fishing guide... Paul Poli is a nature enthusiast, and it’s with this enthusiasm that he shares his love of his native land. After working at the Biguglia Reserve, a favourite spot for many species of waterfowl, environmental awareness became an essential aspect of his philosophy.

Having filmed documentary series Fora di Strada, his most beautiful hikes are immortalised for the pleasure of all. Paul Poli presents a Corsica where nature, culture, heritage and environment come together to make you travel and dream.

WHERE CAN WE FIND YOU?

“If you’re looking for me, I’ll be en route to the Romanesque chapels of Nebbiu or the villages of Casinca; you could also find me on the Fiumorbu river, or at the heart of the Cuscione plateau admiring the buttercups and aconites with fellow travellers; or perhaps I’ll be shooting the next episode of the Fora di Strada series and presenting the sheepfolds of the highlands or the Desert des Agriates.

DO YOU GO BACK IN TIME ON A HIKE IN CORSICA?

“The island is the cradle of a Mediterranean civilisation, bursting with ancient sites and historic wonders. From the prehistoric villages of Filitosa and Cucuruzzu to the ancient settlements of Mariana and Aléria, and from the Romanesque chapels of San Michele de Murato and Saint Pancrace to the Genoese towers along the coast, Corsica reveals a rich history, with its treasures of the past nestled in enchanting natural settings.

WHAT DO YOU OFFER TOURISTS WHO DON’T KNOW CORSICA?

“Come and discover this exceptional land: Corsica and its mountains with steep summits, lakes, rivers, and coastlines bordered by cliffs interspersed with secret coves lapped by turquoise waters.

“Come and discover my homeland, admire the landscapes and villages and meet their inhabitants.

“Come and hike along the coast and in the heart of the Corsican mountains.

“That’s what I can offer!”
