Discover our charming village

Let yourself be charmed by Pigna, our village of blond houses in Haute-Corse.

Founded, according to chronicles, around 800 AD by Consalvo, one of Count Colonna's companions sent by the Pope to liberate Corsica from the Saracens, Pigna has become a beacon of social and cultural experimentation. Home to numerous activities throughout the Balagne region and Corsica as a whole, in 1974 the commune launched the Paese in Festa formula, which since then, every year on July 13, has featured musical and theatrical events alongside traditional polyphony and improvised poetic jousting.

After suffering the decline of the entire rural world, Pigna rose to the challenge of life in the 60s.

Today, there are more children than old people, and the town produces in the calm of great certainties. Shepherds, potters, engravers, cabinetmakers, luthiers, glassmakers, sculptors, bricklayers, painters, musicians and singers, creators of musical toys and agri-food products, teachers and mosaicists all bear witness to this.

Stores, hotels, restaurants, B&Bs, cafés, an open-air theater, an auditorium and a recording studio complete the picture of an economic and cultural dynamic.
