Walk to the prehistoric site of Monte Lazzu - between history and panorama
Set off on an easy, shady walk under the beautiful cork oaks typical of the region, to discover a fascinating prehistoric site: Monte Lazzu.
Situated on the heights of Tiuccia, this promontory offers a breathtaking view over the Liamone plain and the Gulf of Sagone. Well-exposed and steeped in history, it invites you to take a plunge into the agricultural origins of Corsica.
A site steeped in memory
Monte Lazzu is famous for its ancient stone millstones, vestiges of the work of the island's first farmers. Occupied since Neolithic times, it bears witness to a human presence linked to the exploitation of the fertile land at the mouth of the Liamone, which is still farmed today.
Nearby, the Trémica and Clos d'Alzeto wineries perpetuate this agricultural tradition and invite you to stop off for some food and wine.
And if you look south, you'll see the rocky outcrop where the casteddu di Cinarca once stood, a medieval castle emblematic of the power of the ancient Corsican lords.
