The Bonifacio International Biennale of Fire Arts (BIBAF) is celebrating its 5th edition in 2024.
After France in 2014, Italy in 2016, Japan in 2019, Malta in 2022, in 2024 it is the turn of Serbia with the Corso Serbian exhibition in which 6 talented Serbian ceramic artists will participate.
Serbia is a booming artistic scene in the field of contemporary art and, since the period between the two World Wars, it has been marked by very strong links with France.
The tradition of fire arts dates back to the most ancient times in the Balkans. Nowadays,
it is distinguished by specific artistic individualities with a young generation of talent that reflects the vitality of the Serbian contemporary scene with a mixture of tradition and innovation. The Serbian artists selected for BIBAF 2024, Jovana Cavorovic, Ljubica Jocic Kneževic, Jasmina Pejcic, Bojana Ristevski Mlaker, Valentina Savic and Velimir Vukicevic, focused on the development of two main axes representing the essence of contemporary ceramics, oriented towards contemporary answers to societal questions and the exploration of the material itself.
This choice of Serbia also continues a beautiful story of solidarity and friendship between
Serbian and Corsican peoples since the First World War 14-18 (book From Corsica to the Balkans).
This exhibition at the Espace Saint Jacques, organized by the Corsican artist Zani, is the subject of a brochure that visitors will be able to obtain at the exhibition venue.
