Love, love, love... That's the promise of the 2025 edition of the Arte Mare Festival!

The Bastia Mediterranean Film Festival is Corsica's oldest and most enduring festival.

Born in 1982 in the midst of the Riacquistu, U festivale di u filmu di e culture mediterranie has forged links between a reaffirmed Corsican culture and neighbouring Mediterranean cultures.

In 2001, after a one-year hiatus, U festivale di u filmu di e culture mediterranie gave way to U festivale di u filmu e di l'arte mediterranie and took up its vocation as a festival of mixed arts.

Now run by the Arte Mare association, it is known as the Arte Mare festival. Every year it awards a literary prize, the Prix Ulysse, for a first novel or a body of work.

What a great adventure! Over thirty years of festival in Bastia, thirty-six years of loyalty to Mediterranean cinema.
A cinematography that is poorly publicised and yet so creative. Heir to thousands of years of stories, histories and images.
The feature film competition is a must-see for film lovers, with 7 previously unseen films reflecting the societies from which they draw their inspiration.

This is the real heart of the festival, beating with the enthusiasm of the public and the hopes of the filmmakers.
Every year, programmer Pierre De Gardebosc, in collaboration with the festival team, puts together an original, high-quality line-up of films, with previews that will be making news in the year to come, and which will contribute to the reputation of the festival and the image of Corsica, thanks to the mention of the prize on the posters.

The Corsican Film Competition

In 2016, for the first time, we gave Corsican filmmakers the chance to win the Arte Mare prize by inaugurating a Corsican Film Competition section comprising medium-length films, shorts and a feature film.

Two prizes are awarded, one for fiction, the other for documentary.

This is the logical culmination of the work to highlight the island's productions, which has been going on since the very beginning of the festival.
The Mediterranean Film School Competition.

Inaugurated in 2017, this competition attracted a great deal of interest, with around twenty schools taking part. 7 films were selected and many young directors travelled at their own expense to present their films.
