All concerts in this year’s programme are free to attend, will start at 9.30 pm, and will be held outdoors. As every year, the programme is put together based on the line-up of guest artists.

Saturday 11 July MOITA Place du Capasantu 9.30 pm Le Violoncelle de Moita hosts: the group TAVAGNA
For over forty years, this group has been exploring the various artistic and musical worlds – often said to be compartmentalised – with an open-minded approach that has allowed for many innovations, many creative works and even a well-deserved reputation as pioneers, particularly in their fusions of tradition with jazz, Baroque music and organ music.
Sunday 12 July MATRA 11.00 am – St Bernardin’s Church at 11.00 am: family concert
The Moita Cello was designed and crafted in 1843 by a luthier from Moita, Francescu Filippi.
Having sustained significant damage, it was kept in the Filippi family home before its restoration was entrusted in 1993 to Ugo Casalonga, a luthier in Pigna, in Balagne.
The result is remarkable. It is a unique instrument, both in terms of its craftsmanship (it is smaller than a standard cello) and its tone. One might think that, for its maker, it represented a kind of testament to his mastery and talent in the art of violin-making.
To celebrate its ‘rebirth’, a voluntary association was set up in the village, which has been organising an annual summer festival for the past 14 years. Posters feature big names; they all come to Moïta to perform for free in the churches of Moïta and throughout the mountainous Oriente region. Spanning classical music, contemporary music and opera, the Moïta Cello Festival gently brings together several generations to celebrate their cultural heritage.” The chairperson is Mrs Marie-Paule Chipponi, supported by a team of passionate volunteers.
