Presentation
The Associu Spurtivu A Paolina organises the A Paolina race, an event combining sport and history: a 70 km road race between the sea and the mountains, contested individually, in teams of 2, 4 or 8, and in a run & bike format, from L’Ile-Rousse to the village of Morosaglia.
On 4 September 1889, the ship Le Comte Valery docked at L’Ile-Rousse carrying the ashes of General Paoli. A procession then set off from the port to Morosaglia, his home village, to lay his ashes to rest there.
A hundred years later, in 1989, the A Paolina association was founded to commemorate this historic event through a unique race combining sport, history and culture. Recognised by Jogging International magazine, the A Paolina race ranks among the 50 most beautiful races in the world.
The race covers 70 km on roads, between the sea and the mountains, from L’Ile-Rousse to Morosaglia, with 1,790 m of elevation gain.
The route passes through Monticello, Belgodère, Occhiatana, Olmi-Cappella, Castifao, Moltifao and Ponte-Leccia.
On arrival in Morosaglia, there will be an awards ceremony, followed by a convivial meal accompanied by Corsican songs, to round off this wonderful adventure.
