Suarina is a musical group based on a friendship between young women passionate about music and singing. Cultural activists, they defend their language and culture. Former students of the University of Corsica, they met during moments of musical exchanges at the University Cultural Center.
The musical universe born from this feminine encounter invites an inner journey both individual and collective, where the key word is "harmony"... It thus questions the notion of balance, of the self, of the other and therefore from the whole. It is thanks to the balance of each element of which it is composed that the structure is solid.
Harmony is the master of the game here, it is she who governs the balance, between space and time, nature and the animal, the collective and the individual, the body and the mind... Suarina therefore proposes a quest for individual & collective harmony, at all levels: musical, human, societal, utopian... Starting from an attempt at agreement between voices and instruments, inspired
through the traditional technique of Corsican polyphonic singing, the journey continues with the interweaving of diverse horizons and influences, illustrating flawless friendship and sisterhood. From this plurality arises a complementarity and a resolutely modern sound.
After an initial period of covers and adaptations of traditional songs, the Suarina group is now working on creation. Indeed, renowned authors such as Alain Di Meglio, Patrizia Gattaceca, Ceccè Lanfranchi, Ghjuvan Federiccu Terrazzoni and Nicolas Sorba have entrusted several texts to the women's training.
Suarina also had the pleasure of participating in the adventure of Corsu Mezu Mezu, a project initiated by Patrick Fiori, by performing Corsica Meia in a duet with Nolwenn Leroy on the reissue of the second album.
