Third city of Corsica, Portivechju, whose economy was formerly based on the exploitation of salt, wood and cork, has now become an attractive seaside resort thanks to its coastline and its magnificent sandy beaches, some of which are part from the Bouches de Bonifacio nature reserve. In the heart of the upper town, you can discover the Citadel made up in part of ramparts with its five bastions, its Genoese gate and its squares. Below, the Navy offers a pleasant setting for a drink, a meal or a stroll along the quays. At an altitude of 900 meters, the Ospedale massif offers a magnificent panoramic view of the coastline and particularly of the Gulf of Porto-Vecchio. Its national forest, within the Regional Natural Park of Corsica, is the starting point for superb walking tours.
