At an altitude of 800m, Croce overlooks the two parishes of Orezza and Ampugnani and provides a panoramic view of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Tuscan archipelago. It is a typical village of the interior, a land covered in schist, with shale rooves and roads that are paved with "teghje" slates of the region. Two bread ovens, a municipal chestnut drying room and a communal washhouse remain as evidence of the savoir-faire and lifestyle of its ancient inhabitants. At St Roch, on 16th August, a great mass is celebrated in the 18th century Baroque church, followed by a torchlight procession.
