Presentation

Village located 448 m above sea level surrounded by the municipalities of Ambiegna, Casaglione, Sari d´Orcino, Arro is made up of pink granite houses and narrow, steep alleys, all built on the hillside. It is accessible at the end of a spectacular road revealing the peaks and the Liamone valley. After a period of decline, the village has experienced a revival with the installation of shepherds and craftsmen. For the record, the medieval village was deserted in 1489 after the repression carried out by the Office of Saint George (see Letia for the meaning) by Ambroggio de Negro (doge of Genoa). Shortly before 1459, there were 41 fiscal households. It was in the modern era (1537) that it began to decrease since there were only 21 outbreaks left. The Cinarchesi war strongly marked the region, the main residence of Da Leca, lords of the region, was on the other bank of the Liamone river where the path of San Chirgu led to the village of Arro which is at the heart of this region. medieval territory. It will be set up as a parish in 1689, then as a municipality in 1790
