Presentation
The small church of Casmaccioli is home to a legendary statue of the Virgin Mary, known as Saint Mary, the Queen of Heaven, the Santa par excellence, a Santa di u Niolu (the Saint of Niolo), who has been worshipped for centuries in the heart of Corsica. From the east, the church is accessed by car via the Scala di Santa Regina gorge (The Staircase of the Holy Queen) and from the west via the Col de Vergio (Bocca di Verghju).
