Presentation

Situated in the heart of the village of Conca, the church of Saint Etienne was built in 1867, replacing the old, modest chapel of the Confraterna. This new religious building bears witness to the community's attachment to its spiritual and cultural heritage.

The church is dedicated to Saint Stephen, celebrated on 26 December, an emblematic figure of Christianity. A deacon in Jerusalem in the 1st century AD, he was a fervent defender of the nascent Christian faith. Accused of blasphemy, he was sentenced to death and stoned to death, becoming the first Christian martyr in history. His courage and unshakeable faith make him a symbol of fidelity and sacrifice in the Christian tradition.

The church of Saint Étienne de Conca, with its beautiful multi-storey bell tower, embodies this memory and is a place of meditation steeped in history, in the heart of a village with a strong identity.
