At the heart of the Solenzara estate, Saint Paul's church has a very special history. Originally, this building housed a stable, used by the local parish priests to store the horses that transported the wood cut in the Fium'Orbu valley.
In the mid-19th century, faced with the rapid growth in the population of the village of Solenzara, the owner of the estate suggested converting the stable into a place of worship. Due to a lack of funds, only half of the building was converted into a church.
In 1920, at the instigation of Abbé Renucci, a bell tower was added and the building was raised by one metre to give it greater height. The current roof and framework, restored around 1970, were inspired by the style of a church in the suburbs of Algiers, adding an original Mediterranean touch.
The church is dedicated to Saint Paul, a major figure in Christianity and apostle to the nations. Every year, its patron saint's day is celebrated on 30 June, in a friendly village atmosphere.
