Presentation
Although the exterior may look a bit banal, the interior makes up for this absolutely. In fact, this is one of the most beautiful artistic treasures on the island, with everything from paintings to neo-Byzantine frescoes, executed according to the art and the spirit of icons. This remarkable works were carried out by the Greek artist Nikos N. Giannakakis, official painter of the Patriarch of Constantinople and resident of Crete. This artist carried out these works between 1980 and 1985. The richness of the colour schemes, the perfection in the graphic design and the power of their inventiveness make viewing these frescoes, which depict the main scenes of Evangelism, an intensely emotional experience.
