Presentation

The village of Evisa is situated in the Corsican mountains just above Porto and on the edge of the Forêt d'Aïtone, which is planted with sweet chestnut trees and inhabited by animals which roam free. The Col de Vergio is a little higher up in the mountains. The hotel-restaurant here is a departure point for numerous hikes, particularly to the Lac de Nino, where the footpath follows the Tavignano river to Corte. Evisa (850m) also lies at one end of the mule track which crosses the Spelunca gorge to head down to Ota. This is an easy, pleasant walk of around 3hr, dotted here and there with information boards on flora and fauna and the Genoese bridges, such as the Pont de Zaglia.
