Situated at an altitude of 300m surrounded by wooded hills, this is an unforgettably tranquil spot. The name Granace means ?land of grain?. At the beginning of the 16C (around 1507), this area was completely devastated and depopulated during the war between Genoa and Count Rinuccio della Rocca. Towards the end of the 16C, the residents of Zicavo began to build huts here in order to spend the winter in the area. Gradually, they began to spend more time here and the settlement developed into the hamlet of Granaccia. On the edge of the hamlet of Saparedda stand the town hall and the parish church dedicated to St Mary of the Assumption, the patron saint of the village and of Zicavo, whose saint?s day is celebrated on 15 August.
