Situated at the gateway to the Castagniccia (an area renowned for its sweet chestnut woods), Morosaglia was the home of General Pascal Paoli, who was born here on 6 April 1725. His birthplace is now a museum dedicated to the memory of this father of the Corsican nation. Originally buried in Westminster Abbey, Paoli's ashes now rest in the chapel next to the house. Also worth a visit is the "U Cuventu" Franciscan monastery, which now belongs to the commune and which has been a listed historic monument since 4 August 1992. U Cuventu once housed "A Scola Paoli" (founded as part of the will of Pasquale Paoli), a famous primary and preparatory school which took pupils from across the Castagniccia region. The nearby parish church of San Francescu is also a listed monument and houses the tombs of Clemente Paoli and Alfieru Elaminiu Pulidori.
