Erected in 1589, this sanctuary hides an incredibly sumptuous decor behind its very sober facade. Gilding, marble, walls covered with panelling and scarlet velvet damask embellish its nave. The vault fresco, very representative of Baroque vaults, depicts the Immaculate Conception, the Apostles and the Evangelists. Various political meetings were held here, in particular the sessions of the Anglo-Corsican Parliament between 1794 and 1796. At that time, the throne of Georges III, King of England, was installed in the middle of the nave.
