The village of Quenza, located in the mid-range mountains of the region, offers a spectacular setting for nature lovers and history buffs alike. Covering a vast area, Quenza stretches from the majestic peaks of the Bavella mountain range, with its famous red granite needles, to the Cuscionu plateau to the west, dotted with small valleys and pastures. This plateau, long used by transhumant shepherds, is now home to a deer park, while the Bavella forest, with its holm oaks, is also a reserve for Corsican mouflons, the island's emblematic mountain species.

Numerous torrential streams, springs and fountains criss-cross Quenza's imposing landscapes, attracting hikers and mountain enthusiasts every year to immerse themselves in this wild, unspoilt nature. The trails around Quenza are renowned for their panoramic beauty, combining dense forests, rocky ridges and crystal-clear rivers.

Quenza's architectural heritage is equally impressive. The village is home to stone houses of timeless charm, some of which date back to the sixteenth century, such as the house adorned with a gabled 'piumbatoghu' and a defensive tower from the same period. The Florentine castle, with its crenellated tower, adds to the historic character of the area.

Below the village, the Romanesque chapel of Santa Maria Assunta, dating from the year 1000 and listed as a historic monument, evokes the spiritual roots of the region. As for the parish church of San Ghjorghju, its distinctive façade incorporates blocks of green serpentine, a reminder of the Romanesque influences on local architecture.
