Presentation

Rosazia is a small mountain village, nestled in the Cruzzini, 650m above sea level. Dominated by Monte Cervellu from its height of 1,624m, Rosazia is built on a multitude of small terraces supported by low walls on which small granite houses with old roofs form a remarkable architectural ensemble. Its history dates back to the early days of Prehistory and we find traces of archaeological sites on the territory of the municipality, more particularly Castellucciu, a small settlement dating from the Bronze Age (2000 years BC) which dominates the bridge of Biacciani and the crossings of the Strada Antica coming from the Cinarca. Subsequently and as often in the region after the repression of Genoa carried out against the Cinarchesi lords Da Leca and the Barbary attacks, the Middle Ages mark the time of the desertion of the village. For the record: The unfinished church of Rosazia is a magnificent monument whose construction began in 1897. It was never completed for lack of men, the construction work having ended with the beginning of the First World War . In its open-air nave, the church has seen the passing of generations of Rosacians who had their first festivals, weddings, balls. Closed from 1997 to 2009 for work to bring it up to standard, it now functions as a village hall. And according to the inhabitants, "no question of making a roof, it would lose all its charm".
