20220 L'Ile-Rousse
Tour de Saleccia The Saleccia tower is not situated near the famous beach of the same name in the middle of the Désert des Agriates, but instead in the Île-Rousse region near a small hamlet called Saleccia. This Genoese tower is easy to miss if you're not looking carefully for it, as it's badly ruined and stands on a section of the national road between Calvi and Bastia where it's not easy to stop. If you want to have a close look at the tower, it's best to buy the local IGN map (scale 25 000), on which the tower is marked - you'll see a path leading to it. Visitors should take care if approaching the platform of the tower, especially if it's windy. There's no real need to climb onto the platform as the view of the coast, which extends from Île-Rousse to the west to the Désert des Agriates to the east, can easily be seen from the base of the tower.
