20227 Ghisoni
On the outskirts of Ghisoni (around 10 km), a small village tucked away in a basin at an altitude of 658 m, the Inzecca gorge offers an imposing, Dantesque landscape. The ride is spectacular, with narrow roads and tight bends. The narrowness of the gorge gives you the impression of driving through a canyon. Green cliffs (the colour of a rock called serpentine) plunge into a tumultuous river, the fium'obu, the "blind" river in Corsican.
This site has been classified as "NATURA 2000" since 2008. The ecological interest of the Inzecca gorge lies in the presence of a plant species, the island cabbage, which only grows on cliffs and boulders. It has highly original geological, fauna and flora features that are not found elsewhere in Corsica.
