20214 Calenzana
The Bonifato forest is a good example: although famous for its long hikes, in the Bonifatu cirque, along the forest path, the Figarella winds its way, a small river made up of natural pools of varying sizes where you can can cool off, dive, jump (be careful though) or splash the neighbors!
How to get there:
- It takes 30 minutes by car; no idea how long on foot! It's very steep so we've never tried... anyone care to take a guess?
- Leave Calvi and head towards Ile-Rousse - Bastia
- Follow the signs towards Calvi-Ste Catherine Airport (go right at the roundabout)
- Carry on (remember to ignore the fork in the road which leads to Galeria), go
straight on, then the road will bend slightly to the right, follow this road.
- Carry on until you get to the Auberge de la Foret car park (this car park is not free in the high season).
- Go down the forest footpath behind the Auberge
- Find a quiet place. Our advice is to get a spot first thing in the morning. This place is
so magical and very popular so the good spots are on a 1st come, 1st served basis, hurry, hurry...
