An encounter with the land occupied by shepherds and their flocks.
A special place where time stands still. You will be self-sufficient for 4 days, with your personal belongings on the horse. 5 days on horseback, riding for around 5 hours a day.

YOUR 18-STEP PROGRAMME

Day 1: Poggio-di-Venaco
Welcome at the airport. Transfer to the riding centre in the Corte region (1-hour journey from the airport).
Settle into your mobile home.

Night in a mobile home at the riding centre.
Welcome drink, presentation of the tour and meal.

Day 2: Albertacce
Departure around 8am, transfer of horses and riders to the starting point.

Lake Calacuccia
Ride along the shores of Lake Calacuccia (800m), back to the banks of the Golu. In the heart of shepherds' country, in this basin surrounded by the high peaks of Corsica, the Niolu valley reveals its magnificent contours.

We return to the Niolu riding centre for an evening under the Lariccio pines.

Day 3: Albertacce
The Vergio Pass
After breakfast and preparing our horses, we resume our journey through the forests framed by the mountains, winding our way along forest paths and tracks.

Overnight in a gîte on the Col de Vergio
In the evening, we make the most of the ski resort's facilities, gîte and restaurant for this second stage.

Day 4: Corte
Lake Nino
After leaving the Col de Vergio, we head into the mountains following in the footsteps of hikers. Once over the Col de St Pierre (1400m), we're just a few steps away from the magnificent Lac de Nino (1800m) with its free-roaming herds.

Overnight at the Vaccaghia sheepfold.
We continue on the GR20 in the afternoon to reach the Vaccaghia sheepfolds.

Day 5: Corte
Lake Creno
Today we continue in the footsteps of the hikers on a stage to the Lac de Creno (1300m). This magnificent body of water is surrounded by tall pine trees.

Return to the Vaccaghia sheepfolds.

Lake Goria
In the afternoon, brave souls can explore Lake Goria (1800m), which is only accessible on foot.

Overnight at the Vaccaghia sheepfold
In the evening, we return to the Vaccaghia sheepfold.

Day 6: Corscia
The Tavignano
We leave this magical place to follow the little stream of the Tavignano, and it is by following this arid valley that we arrive in the Melo forest where the tall pines stand majestically.

Overnight in tents at the Conia sheepfold
A short distance from the river, we reach the Col de l'Arinella (1600m), overlooking the Niolu forests, before arriving at the Conia sheepfold for a delicious meal (overnight in tents).

Day 7: Poggio-di-Venaco
The Forca forest
Leaving the sheepfold, we'll make the most of our last moments in the heart of the Corsican mountains to begin our descent through the Forca forest, where we'll reach Bocca Ominanda for the end of our journey.

Overnight in a mobile home at the riding centre
The vehicles will take us to the riding centre.
After looking after our mounts and their equipment, the ride ends with a convivial meal. Overnight in a mobile home (Recommended)

Day 8: Lucciana
Return from Bastia airport
After breakfast, departure around 9.30 am for the airport.

Practical information
Horses suited to mountain trails. Free-roaming horses in herds. Predominantly Corsican breeds and saddle horses.
Trekking saddles and mixed saddles with trekking equipment.
A catering car every evening and usually at lunchtime with personal belongings.
Qualified guides. As the establishment is also a training centre, trainees may be asked to supervise hikes or stays on their own or with a qualified leader.
Please inform us of any medical treatment, special dietary requirements or health problems when you register.
Please note: in summer, we may have to adapt the riding times according to the temperature.

Mesures particulières : Particular difficulties Riders in good physical condition, practising outdoor riding and mastering the 3 gaits. Children aged 10 and over who are comfortable with all three gaits accompanied by an adult are accepted.
