The Wild West crossings are designed to explore the west coast and hinterland of Corsica by bike. Small roads, wild coves and fragrant marquis will cross your path along the way.
Your itinerary:
Day 1: Ajaccio-Cargèse
distance 55 km
ascent 900 m
Right from this first stage, we're plunged into our own bubble, and what a joy it is! The village of Sari d'Orcino is revealed in a completely different light by bike - it's amazing how your perspective changes when you take the time. And the light! Soft, golden, almost unreal. The road then unfolds, taking you along the coastline as you climb towards Cargèse. The beaches here are magnificent!
Day 2: Cargèse-Porto
distance 56 km
altitude difference 1144 m
You leave Cargèse, its charming village with colourful bougainvilleas and picturesque alleyways, dominated by its two opposing churches: one Byzantine-inspired and the other Romanesque. The climb begins, plunging you into the wilderness, where the goats, perched on the side of the road, watch you with curious eyes. Then the village of Piana comes into view, offering spectacular views of the sea and the red rocks. You continue on through the famous Calanche de Piana, a UNESCO World Heritage site, before descending to Porto.
Day 3: Porto-Vico
distance 35 km
altitude difference 1170 m
Today's stage is one of great beauty, as you leave the shores of the coast to begin your ascent through the splendid Spelunca Gorge. Along the way you will pass through the beautiful villages of Marignana and Cristinacce, before reaching Vico via the Col de Sevi. The road is wild and authentic, winding its way through unspoilt countryside.
Day 4: Vico-Pevani
distance 50 km
ascent 570 m
This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful stages of the trip - although they all are! Today, you leave the mountainous landscape behind to return to the gentle coastline and the charm of the sea. From Vico, the road takes you through wild, unspoilt countryside. You'll pass through the peaceful village of Arbori and then head for the superb villages of Sari d'Orcino, Canelle and Sant'Andréa d'Orcino, before reaching the splendid Pevani road.
Day 5: Pevani-Ajaccio
distance 30 km
ascent 650 m
The Pevani route gives you the incredible sensation of riding on water! You'd like time to stand still... or better still, turn around and start all over again in the other direction, just to relive every moment.
