Don't bother searching the internet or even the pages of the most beautiful magazines for what you can only find in these ‘Légendines’ created by the Bastia Tourist Office to discover a Corsican city of mysteries, art and history in a different way. Bastia and Corsica do not reveal themselves so easily.
To touch their ineffable soul, you have to give the city itself a voice, reveal what lies hidden there, lift the veil and allow yourself to be captivated, conquered and transported by the extraordinary, the incredible...
A unique, unsettling and moving experience! In Bastia, it all begins at the large square with the Napoleonic monument, just a stone's throw from a strangely inhabited palace...
Shadows, spectres and ghosts open the doors to another world where religion and white magic nestle and mingle.
Through the intertwining old streets and historic neighbourhoods to the citadel of Bastia, the journey into the heart of the strange continues.
Between prayers, evil eyes and curses, it reveals a little-known history, made up of feared saints and healing bread, ancient rituals and singular figures, sometimes unknown, sometimes famous and all the more unexpected.
As custodians of these secrets, the Bastia guides of Les Légendines tell you about the Genoese punishments, the legend of a humble servant who was later canonised and whose charity literally worked wonders, and the legend of the Black Christ.
Far beyond the archives, beyond any written record, oral tradition has made them great witnesses to the invisible, the living memories of an island and a city that reveal themselves here in all their depth and intimacy.
