Lake Calacuccia
Once over the Col de St Pierre (1400m), we're just a few steps away from the magnificent Lac de Nino (1800m), with its free-roaming herds, where we'll be able to take a picnic out of our panniers. We continue the afternoon on the GR20 to reach the Vaccaghia shepherds.
Overnight at the Vaccaghia sheepfold.
Day 3: Albertacce
The only lake surrounded by conifers
Today we continue in the footsteps of the hikers on a stage towards Lake Creno. This magnificent body of water, surrounded by tall pine trees, reveals its water lilies at an altitude of 1300m. Return to the Bergerie for lunch by the fire.
Night at the Vaccaghia sheepfold.
Day 4: Corte
Between lakes and sheepfolds
This morning we start our ascent on horseback to discover Lake Goria (1800m). After a picnic at the Bergeries de Lenze, we leave our equine companions for the last part of the trail, accessible only on foot.
Overnight at the Vaccaghia sheepfold.
Day 5: Corte
Towards the forests
We leave this magical place to follow the little stream of the Tavignano, and it is by following this arid valley that we arrive in the Melo forest, where the tall pines stand majestically. After a break at the river, we head for the Col de l'Arinella (1600m) overlooking the Niolu forests.
Overnight in the Sega refuge (in tents or dormitories).
Day 6: Corscia
Last day on horseback
Departure from the gîte for the summer pastures of the Alzo plateau. We'll take advantage of our last moments in the heart of the Corsican mountains to begin our descent through the Restonica forest. At the end of the journey, the vehicles are waiting to take us out of the valley and back to the riding centre.
Overnight at the riding centre
