Olive trees, sea and mountains: welcome to Corsica!

A cycling holiday departing from Corte that will take you from the mountains to the sea and from the sea to the mountains, discovering the Balagne, the Calanques de Piana and the Niolo with the Vergio pass and the Scala di Santa Regina gorges.
After two days exploring the back roads of inland Corsica, you'll be facing the sea. You'll then head down towards Île Rousse and its beaches. After a night by the sea, you'll set off pedalling through centuries-old olive groves, past imposing religious buildings. You're in the land of cultures and beliefs, the Balagne of the interior.

Take a little road by the sea and you'll reach the famous Calanques de Piana. The mountain stage is at your feet: you climb the Vergio pass before plunging onto the high plateau that is the Niolo region.

As you make your way back to Corte, you'll cross the Scala di Santa Regina gorge to add to your sense of wonder.
This is a holiday dedicated to the discovery of majestic landscapes, where you'll have the option of riding in comfort, even on the ascent of the Vergio pass, if you're on an electric bike, or on a more sporty Gravel bike.

YOUR ITINERARY
Day 1
Start of the tour in Corte.
We will provide you with the bikes and explain how to use them. You will set off on an initial tour of the Bozio micro-region, where the villages are spread out along the roads or perched on rocky promontories. Small dry-stone buildings, chapels and churches bear witness to typical schist architecture. Overnight in a bed and breakfast near Ponte-Leccia. Evening meal with your hosts.

Day 2
Crossing the Giunssani, a micro-region unknown to tourists. Take a small winding road up to the Capanna pass (844 m), from where you can see the sea. The Balagne region stretches out before you.

Day 3
Île-Rousse to Calvi via the craftsmen's route. This is a balcony road that allows you to discover the Balagne region and admire splendid views of the sea. You'll also pass through many picturesque villages, such as San-Antonino, perched on a rocky outcrop. Large convents, beautiful Romanesque churches and numerous mausoleums bear witness to the importance of religion in Corsica. Overnight in the heart of the Genoese city.

Day 4
Head for Galeria along the coastal road. Although the road is "terrible" by car, the journey becomes a sumptuous itinerary where you pedal from cove to beach, wanting to stop and contemplate at every turn. Small roads lead you to beautiful panoramas such as the chapel of Notre Dame de la Serra, the Revellata peninsula and Crovani Bay. A peaceful night in Galeria.

Day 5
The route from Galeria to Porto is one of the most beautiful in Corsica. You follow the west coast along a narrow, winding road. Throughout the day, you will enjoy magnificent views of the indented coastline, with the cliffs of the Scandola nature reserve and the Gulf of Porto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in the background. Overnight in Porto. Distance: 50 km; altitude difference: +500 m

Day 6
From Porto to the Col de Vergio. On the way, stop off at the famous Calanches de Piana, where the road winds its way between fantastic shapes of red rock, offering a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Porto. Climb to Evisa along one of Corsica's most characteristic roads, with mountainous landscapes and animals: cows, pigs and goats. The views of the cliffs of the Spelunca Gorge are breathtaking. Enjoy a swim in the natural pools at Aïtone. Overnight stay in the small mountain village of Evisa.

Day 7
Climb in the shade of the Aïtone forest to the Col de Vergio (1,477 m), the highest point on your itinerary, then descend through the Valdu-Niellu forest with its magnificent lariccio pines. You then continue through the narrow gorges of the Scala di Santa Regina, where the road overlooks the narrow gorges of the Golu. Numerous pools invite you to take a dip. A final small pass takes you back to Corte.
