YOUR PROGRAMME
DAY 1 Arrival in Bocognano
Your stay begins in the village of Bocognano, perched at an altitude of 700 metres. Nestling on the slopes of the mountain and surrounded by forests and chestnut groves, it overlooks the Gravona valley. Bocognano is easily reached by train from Ajaccio, Bastia or Calvi. After settling into your hotel for two nights, you'll set off to discover local secrets and legends: U Palazzu, Napoleon I's former residence now an eco-museum, the lord of Busso, the bandit of honour Bellacoscia and the Tanedda glacier. This immersion in the island's culture and traditions marks the start of your journey. You will then descend to U Mulinu di l'Orsu, on the banks of the torrent, to explore the "chestnut civilisation" before climbing to discover the plants of the maquis and their traditional uses. The river, with its crystal-clear waters, may well invite you to take a well-deserved dip. The rest of the walk offers breathtaking views over the valley and the majestic peaks of Monte d'Oro.

DAY 2 Richiusa canyon
Nestling in the heart of the Monte d'Oro massif, the Richiusa canyon is a natural jewel, sculpted by time and the rushing waters of an ancient glacier. Its ochre granite walls shelter deep green natural pools and basins, crystal-clear waterfalls and secret passages where nature reigns supreme. With jumps, slides and abseiling, every moment is a mix of adventure and wonder. It's a place where laughter merges with the sound of water, where you rediscover the simple beauty of the elements - the freshness, the light, the stone. Accessible from the age of 9, the Richiusa offers canyoning that's both fun and magical, in an unspoilt and deeply Corsican setting. Accompanied by an instructor, it's a safe half-day experience for all the family.

DAY 3 Vizzavona - on the way to the GR20
You will continue your journey by train to Vizzavona station, nestled in the heart of a vast forest at the foot of the majestic Monte d'Oro. At the end of the XIXᵉ century, this hamlet was a popular holiday resort for English tourists and the Ajaccio bourgeoisie, who came here in search of the freshness and pure mountain air. From the hamlet, you can follow the legendary GR20 trail along the Agnone river to the cascade des Anglais. You'll then head off in search of the most beautiful natural pools, for a refreshing dip in the middle of centuries-old pine trees, once coveted by the first navigators of the Mare Nostrum. The day will end at the Col de Vizzavona, dominated by the ruins of the Comte de Vaux fort, in one of the island's first hotels, which has preserved all its charm of yesteryear.

DAY 4 Adventure trail
Not far from your hotel, in the heart of the thick Vizzavona forest, between beeches and laricio pines, lies an exceptional adventure course. Also known as accrobranche (tree climbing), it combines climbing and overcoming obstacles, often balancing from tree to tree as you progress. In this plant kingdom, young and old alike will have to push themselves to the limit to cross the monkey bridges, launch themselves over the zip lines, slide down the skate-lanes or climb the nets. This activity, which lasts around three hours, takes place in complete safety, thanks to full equipment - harness, helmet and gloves - and supervision by qualified staff, trained according to strict instructions. At the end of this adventure, you can return to the river for a moment of relaxation.

DAY 5 The Vizzavona forest
This day completes your immersion in the heart of the island's culture and nature. Your host can take you to Vizzavona station, where you can catch the train to continue your holiday in Ajaccio, Bastia, Calvi or Corte. If you'd like to extend your adventure, we suggest you follow the sentier de la Femme Perdue, which leaves from the hotel. This route joins the GR20, which climbs to a pass offering panoramic views of the Monte d'Oro massif and the eastern plain, known as the Costa Verde.
